Originated at the turn of the century as a Coir yarn and fibre
trading company, we took roots from M/s. V. O. Vakkan & Sons
of Cochin, one of the first Indian owned companies to export
Coir yarn in 1924. Initially, the objective of the company was
limited to production and export of Coir Yarn. To strengthen the
companys world-wide operations, it was decided to export
value-added products like entrance door mats and mattings. A
separate entity under the name and style, was
formed for the Manufacture and export of these value-added products.
The rich experience in business for over a period of
Eighty years helped us to achieve a reliable name in the
International market for Coir Products. The range includes Coir
Yarn, Door Mats, Coir Matting and Rugs, Coir Geotextiles, Jute
Matting and Rugs, Seagrass Matting and Rugs, Rubber Door Mats,
Polypropylene Rope Mats, Steel Wire Coir Mats etc.
The
warehousing and distribution centre in the USA, in association with
M/s. Geo Crafts, Inc. in Northeastern
Pennsylvania, is maintained with a healthy inventory of select
merchandise for immediate deliveries and re-orders. This location
also features a showroom for those customers who wish to visit our
facilities during their trips to the NY trade shows. Special
programs to assist a buyer's specific needs and Planograms for the
retail outlets are offered at this facility apart from various
options such as: drop-ships to various distribution centers, retail
stores and retail customers. Printing of personalized monogram mats
mainly for the catalog industry is also performed at this location.
The vision that began almost a century ago continues
today with the same commitment : Quality Goods, Timely
Deliveries and Sincere Service.

The story of
Coir Mats begins here..........
|
|
|
Coir or Cocos,
nature's wonder fibre is extracted from the protective husk of
the coconut. |
This golden fiber is spun
into a wide range of yarn. These yarn are then woven into
colorful entrance doormats, area rugs and other floor coverings. |
|
|
The doormats are
woven on small handlooms. The weavers will have couple of looms
in their house and the mats are woven on these looms. The coir
industry probably is the largest cottage industry in the state
of kerala providing employment to over a million people |
These mats are
brought to the factories in a semi-finished form, where the mats
are sheared, fumigated and printed with elegant designs. |
|
|
Broad loom matting
and Area rugs are woven on semi-automatic looms in the
factories. Matting widths vary from 60cm to 4 meters and up to
50 meters in length. |
The exhaustive
range of hardwearing doormats, durable rugs and matting add
elegance to any place of décor. Coir Geo-Textiles are a
very effective and inexpensive material used in Civil
Engineering applications like slope stabilization, etc. |
Coir products are
exceptionally functional and virtually irreplaceable when it
comes to economy, durability and beauty.
